82nd Infantry, Regimental Color. Composed of men from Philadelphia and Allegheny counties, the 82nd was originally the 31st PA, but was renumbered shortly after the Battle of Fair Oaks (May 31-June 1, 1862). It was organized during the late summer of 1861, and the first state regimental flag was presented to the regiment on October 23, 1861 by groups of Philadelphia friends. The regiment was mustered out of service on July 13, 1865.

Composed of men from Philadelphia and Allegheny counties, the 82nd was originally the 31st PA, but was renumbered shortly after the Battle of Fair Oaks (May 31-June 1, 1862). It was organized during the late summer of 1861, and received its state color on February 15, 1862. The regiment was mustered out of service on July 13, 1865. On July 4, 1866 General Meade used the 82nd state color to represent the entire collection. Click here for more images
